Housed at the University of Missouri - Kansas
City’s (UMKC) Bloch School,
the Institute’s vision to
be a world’s leading research and education institute for
entrepreneurship and innovation. As a unique differentiator,
the Institute distinguishes itself across 5 key elements:
research, faculty, education, programs, and results.
Research
The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation faculty
members at the University of Missouri – Kansas City’s Bloch
School are among the top researchers in their respective
areas. A key advantage for the Institute and its students is
that the faculty’s research is brought into the classroom to
better prepare and educate the next generation of
entrepreneurs. The Institute’s Internationally renowned
faculty has one of the highest research productivity
rates, publishing 31 referred journal articles in 2009, an
average 5.17 articles per core research faculty member.
Faculty
The Institute has developed one of the world’s largest
entrepreneurship faculties with 13 full time tenured or
tenure track professors and 15 successful entrepreneurs as
teaching fellows. As a global leader in research, the
Institute is among the most productivity faculties in the
world with many international research awards and honors.
Education
The
Institute delivers exceptional entrepreneurship educational
opportunities and progressive student programs. The
Institute’s undergraduate program offers a Bachelor’s of
Business Administration with an emphasis in
Entrepreneurship. For students seeking to further their
education in entrepreneurship, the Institute offers a
Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in
Entrepreneurship, an EMBA Entrepreneurship and Innovation
track, and an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in
Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Additional educational
opportunities and experiences are available for all UMKC
students through campus-wide entrepreneurship
immersion, certificate, and minor programs.
Programs
The Institute also incorporates numerous programs – campus-wide
and across all program levels – to provide students a
hands-on entrepreneurship experience. The Regnier Family
Foundations Venture Creation Challenge
exists to encourage student venture creation through a forum
in which students present new venture concepts to local
investors, entrepreneurs, and venture professionals. The
Student
Ventures Program is an integrative experiential learning program for the
development, incubation, and launch of new student ventures.
Results
The successful combination of these elements is results-driven
and clearly demonstrated though the Institute’s goal of
creation of 100 well-trained entrepreneurs and 10
high-growth ventures annually.
