ORAL PRESENTATION GUIDELINES FOR FINALIST TEAMS

Note: These guidelines are for all oral presentations given in the Roo Idea Jump Competition held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5:00-6:30PM

  • All finalist teams must submit their final PowerPoint (or similar) presentation by May 2, 2017 from 5:00-6:30PM to venturechallenge@umkc.edu. No changes may be made after this time.

  • This PowerPoint should be no more than 10 slides long and cover the information outlined in the written submission. You should assume that the judges will not have read your entire written concept, so the PowerPoint should provide a complete explanation of the concept.

  • Each team will have 5 uninterrupted minutes to make their presentation and 5 minutes to answer questions from a panel of judges.

  • Teams will be evaluated based on the following judging criteria:

    • 25 points: Value proposition

    • 25 points: Customer segments, channels, and relationships

    • 15 points: Revenue streams and cost structure

    • 15 points: Key resources, activities, and partnerships

    • 10 points: Quality of presentation

    • 10 points: Overall impact and feasibility of idea

  • A common strategy is for one member of the team to give the bulk of the presentation while other members provide support in areas of their respective expertise.

  • Computer and audiovisual equipment will be provided with your PowerPoint file already downloaded. It is recommended that all teams come prepared with a backup copy on a USB drive. Visual aids are allowed and encouraged.

  • The finalist presentation will be in front of a general audience. Therefore, the final PowerPoint presentation should not contain any proprietary information.

  • Remember, the oral presentation should be compelling and persuasive! This is not a research report, where you demonstrate that you did the work, but a sales pitch where you convince the judges that you and your team can succeed.
