Millions of parents are challenged with the process of weaning their children from their pacifiers. Bye Bye Binky is a transitional pacifier system consisting of three BPA free silicone pacifiers enclosed in a sterilizer case. As surface area reduces with each stage, maintaining suction becomes more difficult and slowly diminishes the satisfaction received from pacifier use.

MyHealthAdvisor is a web-based, rule-based software application containing the top 600 health concerns. It will provide consumers with a step-by-step reference guide to assist them in determining if their condition needs emergency care, urgent care in a physician office or ambulatory clinic or can be reasonably managed at home. In the hands of consumers then empowered to make educated and accurate healthcare decisions, MyHealthAdvisor will create significant cost savings for public and private health insurance companies, corporations, accountable care organizations and consumers.

Envy Gaming, LLC, “Envy Gaming Gear” hand-tailors gaming products that are already manufactured in the video game market. Envy takes the gaming products that the masses already use, and adds the ability to individualize the design. Envy’s focus is on adding cosmetic changes to existing products in the market to help gamers individualize and express themselves.

Description: EasyStrep is a liquid compound, available in a spray and child-friendly ice pop, that will bring disruptive innovation to the way doctor’s test for strep throat. EasyStrep works when a patient ingests the pleasant-tasting liquid, allowing it to coat his or her throat. Then, a medical provider shines an ultraviolet light into the patient’s mouth, and, if the bacteria are present, they glow. EasyStrep provides a pain-free, one-step way of testing for strep that will replace the current two-step method, which causes gagging and pain for patients and requires medical providers to perform expensive follow-up tests.

Description: Robotic Slides System is for laboratory personnel, allowing them to control a robotic mechanism via interface software. The mechanism is able to store and retrieve tissue sample cassettes (blocks of tissue) and slides from an archival cabinet. The product was invented by Dr. Ossama Tawfik M.D., P.h.D and is currently being developed by Dr. Tawfik collectively with staff at KU Medical Center.

Venture Description: Forms are necessary for businesses; they record essential information and are invaluable if they are filed well and easily accessible. Traditional paper forms become weighty paper files, which require perpetual maintenance. Electronic alternative are only affordable by large firms; leaving smaller firms burdened with the ongoing cost of paper forms, labor to file them, and office space to store them.

FormMonkey’s mission is to provide a web service for businesses to create, share and complete forms. Our initial target will help restaurant owners with their new employee forms providing labor saving storage, flexible filing methods, and a paper-competitive price.

Venture Description: Did you know that 1-4 women will be assaulted sometime in their college career? We have created a device to keep women safe and confident. Safe Trace is a keychain that creates a disturbing noise to draw attention and scare away the attacker when activated. Products such as Garmin GTU10 are very similar. The difference is that Safe Trace holds a tracking device that notifies campus security of the location of the victim so security can immediately arrive to the scene. Safe Trace will provide women security and put an end to violent crimes on school campuses.

Venture Description: Green REIT is a real estate investment trust with assets based in renewable energy and green technology. These assets could include wind farms, solar farms, hydro-technical plant, geothermal plants and other green based real estate assets. A real estate investment trust is a corporate structure design to acquire, manage, operate and dispose of real estate assets. It is similar to a mutual fund or hedge fund but instead of purchasing stocks and bonds and REIT acquires real estate assets. The benefits of a REIT are its tax implications at both the corporate level and investor level. Green REIT’s main function will be to purchase or develop renewable energy assets, operate and manage those assets and then dispose of those assets as outline in Green REIT’s investment criteria.
