The business resource providers at 4747 Troost provide a
wealth resources that entrepreneurs and business owners need
to launch, grow, market, and finance their businesses.
Entrepreneurs can also tap the business outreach services at
4747 Troost to develop their technical skills and develop
their products.
The place to start is KCSourceLink, also housed at 4747
Troost, which can put entrepreneurs and companies in touch
with the 18 services houses in the building and more than
100 more located in the Kansas City region.
In addition to the SBTDC, Missouri and Heartland PTACs, the
Entrepreneurial Legal Services Clinic, and the Business
Resource Center, 4747 Troost is home to the following
business building services:
First Step Fund provides entrepreneurship training,
capital access and ongoing support to low-to-moderate income
individuals in Kansas City. The training includes
development of a business feasibility plan, training in
starting a home childcare business, and business
development skills.
Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (HEMP)
is dedicated to strengthening entrepreneurial leaders
through excellence in mentoring. Components of the program
include a one-on-one mentoring relationship, as well as
networking opportunities with peers and veteran business
owners and entrepreneurs. A business must meet certain
criteria to qualify.
The Microloan Program at the Growth Opportunity
Connection provides funding for micro-entrepreneurs who
cannot yet qualify for bank financing. Loan recipients also
receive business advice and financial counseling. Through
the microloan program, business loans up to $50,000 are
available.
Missouri Enterprise offers assistance with business
planning and financial structuring, strategic alliances,
quality management systems, marketing studies, and manufacturing improvements to
Missouri-based businesses in manufacturing and agriculture.
The Missouri Federal and State Technology Partnership (MoFAST)
helps Missouri technology-based businesses and entrepreneurs
compete for federal funding for technology research and
product development through the federal government’s Small
Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business
Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. In addition MoFAST
provides guidance for successful commercialization of the
technologies developed through the SBIR and STTR projects.
The Missouri Women’s Business Center at the Growth
Opportunity Connection offers business education and advice
for women entrepreneurs.
SCORE is a
national network of retired and working volunteers who are
experienced entrepreneurs and corporate managers/executives.
These volunteers provide free business counseling and advice
to the prospective business owner – from idea to start-up to
success.
University of Missouri Extension provides technical assistance to
start-ups through one-on-one consulting, training workshops
and informational resources.
