2007 New Venture Challenge Competition Winners
First
place: MBA students Bryan Clark and Jarrod Eyler and
their IP developer Dr. Jeff Gorski, professor of oral
biology at UMKC, for his technology that helps measure bone
growth.
Second
place: MBA students Steve Timperley, Jonathan Oladitan,
and Andrew Plungkhen and their IP owner Kirkland Gates for
his algorithm that creates a handicap system for the tennis
industry.
Third
place: engineering students Mark Green and Joshua Mead,
law student Ryan Finnegan, and MBA student Richard Henderson
and their IP owner National Renewable Energy Laboratory for
their glass envelope technology that helps reduce energy
consumption.
Fourth
place: engineering student Matthew Scott, law student
Jeremy Jorgenson, and MBA students Daphne Tabbytite and Jody
Kalich and their IP owner U.S. Semiconductor for their
University of Missouri–originated technology that detects
chemical and biological agents.
Several
student teams attracted interest from serious investors for
their companies’ products or services.
