PhD Admissions

Timeline
We accept applications on a rolling admissions basis between 15 November and 15 February. The faculty will review only completed applications.


Required Materials, Domestic Applicants

  • Minimum 650 GMAT score or GRE equivalent score

  • Minimum 3.2 undergraduate GPA, 3.4 GPA graduate (U.S. scaled GPA)

    • Please send college transcripts from all institutions attended to the UMKC Office of Admissions:

  • Completed online application

  • Resume

    • Current resume showing your work history and any professional certifications

    • Submit electronic resumes to blochadvising@umkc.edu OR mail a hard-copy to Bloch Student Services:

  • Statement of purpose

    • 2-3 pages that describe your career plans, your research interests, why you desire to attend UMKC's Bloch School, and why you want to obtain the PhD

    • Submit statements to blochadvising@umkc.edu OR mail a hard-copy to Bloch Student Services.

  • Three (3) letters of recommendation

    • Former faculty preferred

    • Direct reference letters to blochadvising@umkc.edu OR mail a hard-copy to Bloch Student Services


Required Materials, International Applicants

  • International students should start the application process with UMKC’s International Student Affairs Office (apply & submit an application for admissions)

  • Minimum 3.2 undergraduate GPA, 3.4 GPA graduate (U.S. scaled GPA)

  • Minimum 100 TOEFL score, or 7.5 IETLS score

  • Supplemental items should be sent to umkcisaoproc@umkc.edu

    • See above ‘Domestic Applicants’ section for required supplemental materials (resume, statement of purpose, 3 letters of recommendation)
